VAN HALEN | A Visual History 1978-1984
EDDIE VAN HALEN
Chronicle Books
By a funny twist of fate, we were able to put our existing manuscript for this book in front of an editor at Chronicle Books. Luckily the publisher was very excited to take on this project and realized its potential. We spent many weeks at Neil Zlozower’s Hollywood studio to edit and scan photos. A really intense but exciting process. As we were hoping, the VH book was a smash hit.
A few years later we also designed the Eddie Van Halen book, which holds a very special place in our hearts. It was great to go back to Zloz’s archive and dug even deeper to unearth rare and unseen photos. Just like with the VH book, we contacted the who-is-who of guitar players to contribute their personal EVH stories. Once the book was printed, we were able to stop by 5150 Studio and hand deliver a copy to Ed. He looked through the book, smiled, got up and hugged us, and said “thank you.” This is a moment in t42design history that we cherish very much.
