About This Project

Our relationship with Alice and his management team goes back to the year 2001, when we designed Alice’s ‘Dragontown’ album. Many years have passed until we were contacted in 2023 by Rufus Publications in the UK, inquiring whether we are interested in art directing designing a large format historical photo book. We were certainly aware of the great books Rufus publishes and jumped on the offer.

The task at hand was to create a chronological visual history of Alice’s career, starting from his early youth and first few high school bands to the infamous Alice Cooper Band and his subsequent solo career which has lasted to this day. Alice is now 77 years young!

The book was to be packed with rare and unseen ephemera, such as flyers, concert ticket stubs, adverts and such. But mostly it was to showcase the best and greatest photographs chronicling his exciting career, with all the ups and downs. We were lucky to include legendary photographers such as Bob Gruen, Ross Halfin, Lyn Goldsmith, Richard Avedon, Jeffrey Mayer and many more. The book also features essays from renown music writers and journalists such as Jaan Uhelszki, Dave Dickson, Jerome Soligny and Katherine Turman.

You can see the three different editions that are available for purchase through the Rufus website.
